Filtering for Pages or Users

In this guide we will take a look at filtering for Users or Pages in Facebook topic data.

Pages are for businesses, brands and organizations to share their stories and connect with people. Like profiles, Pages can be customized by posting stories, hosting events, adding apps and more. People who like a Page receive updates in their News Feed.

  • If a page administrator creates a story on their page, it is received as an "interaction generated by a page"
  • If an individual creates a story on a page, or engages with a story on a page, it is received as an "interaction generated by an individual"

Use the fb.author.type target to differentiate between user and page authors. In the following example, a recording is being made for interactions containing the word "pepsi" which originated from a page:

fb.author.type in "page" and fb.type in "story" and fb.content contains "pepsi"

If a page administrator creates a story on their page that includes the word Pepsi:

  • It is counted in the total number of interactions that include the word Pepsi
  • It is added to the number of unique authors using the word Pepsi

If someone with access to create a story on the page (but not a page admin) creates a story that includes the word Pepsi:

  • It is counted in the total number of interactions that include the word Pepsi
  • It is added to the number of unique authors using the word Pepsi
